Great Drake uplifting for migrating water fowl enthusiasts.
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 20 years ago
Although the duties of leadership and its lonely responsibilities are well conveyed, this book is uplifting for anyone who appreciates the achievements of migrating water fowl. The sense of the group dynamics of the flocks waiting and wondering whether to stay put or move ahead is clearly presented. I very much liked the book from that viewpoint but can also see it as relating to human achievement. After reading the Great Drake, it would be hard to watch a flock without wondering who of them is indeed the Great Drake.
Great for kids and adults

I read this book while in it's manuscript form (I'm the author's daughter). I found the brilliance of this story is how many times I met people in my life who were mirror images of the characters in this marvelous book. It's a delightful story for adults and children (I'd say 6 years or older). Of course I'm a little biased -- the beautiful dedication in this book is to my son. END
A Marvelous Allegory on Difficulties in Leadership
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
This is the best allegory on leadership I've ever encountered. Cappelli captures the soaring, noble aspects of leadership, and the seemingly humiliating, crash-landings leaders often make in realistic, but eloquent terms. He illuminates the challenges that leaders face from within and without, and the help they need to overcome them.If you are hurting because of the trials and tribulations of leadership and/or are doubting your abilities as a leader (or you know someone who is), you truly must read this book. A former U. S. Air Force officer, Cappelli displays incredible sensitivity to the human needs, strengths and frailties of leaders, and, relying upon his flying experience, crafts a truly marvelous little volume. I promise you will never forget it. I've acquired several copies and share them with colleagues who invariably offer sincere thanks for the opportunity to read "the Great Drake," and many go seeking copies of their own.
