After losing her father, Bailey James inherits an old plantation home in Tennessee, known as the Grandville House. Her father's death leaves Bailey completely alone, with no close family. Searching a way to feel close to her father, she decides to move to the Tennessee house. After making the move Bailey realizes that along with the house, she has also inherited a new neighbor, Eli Wills, and a stalker that seems angry she is there. Eli has agreed to complete the renovation on the house that Bailey's father had contracted, and the stalker tries scaring her into leaving. While Eli attempts to make this house a home for Bailey, the stalker leaves warnings for her to leave. On several occasions, when Bailey and Eli are together the stalker watches them and eventually while they are away from the Grandville House, leaves disturbing messages. At first, Bailey and Eli think the messages are just kids playing practical jokes, but the messages continue to show up. The stalker finds ways to hide and spy on Bailey and Eli, and he manages to stay one step ahead of the couple, finding gratification from taunting them. Bailey and Eli spend many weeks together working on the renovations and choosing furnishings for the house. During this time they become inseparable and a romance starts to blossom between the pair. The stalker sees the relationship growing between them, and realizes if it continues it will be harder to convince Bailey to leave. As the relationship between Bailey and Eli strengthens, the stalker becomes more aggressive and the threats begin to escalate.
