Maverick Call is a 6th grader from Kaysville, Utah. His family farmed the land in west Kaysville for over a hundred years--until Maverick's grandfather mysteriously disappeared one night, long before Maverick was even born. Mav's family didn't talk much about the incident, but when Maverick found a strange glass cube filled with an ancient Ute Indian potion hidden among his grandfather's things, he started getting curious. With the help of his best friends, Maverick experimented with the cube and in a flash of light, they were all sent back in time, seeing and experiencing their town's history like they never thought possible. Quickly returning to the present to avoid trouble, Maverick began to wonder--could he use the cube to go back in time and solve his family's greatest mystery? Could he save his grandfather and right the wrongs of the past? Mav decided he had to try, but he soon found that he was being tracked by an old Ute shaman who would do anything to stop him. Will Maverick be able to solve his grandfather's disappearance before he's caught by the shaman? Or will Maverick's experiments cause him to get stuck in the past, or worse, ruin everything about the future that he loves? Only time will tell.
