The Grand Bazaar: The Truth Behind the Wars in Iraq, Libya and Syria

By Eric Pilon

The Grand Bazaar: The Truth Behind the Wars in Iraq, Libya and Syria exposes the underside of the Syrian conflict, but not before reviewing two other important events in the history of the Near and Middle East: the war in Iraq, and the intervention of the Western coalition in Libya. Three conflicts, three countries, three large-scale operations that have entailed their share of scandals and concealed countless secrets that this book aims to unveil.

Readers will find out that the West has never learned from the mistakes it made in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Kosovo, which have contributed to an uncontrolled escalation that 9/11 was mistakenly believed to be its conclusion. The rise of the Islamic State, Al-Qaeda's successor in title, has put an end to this naive belief.

The Iraqi, Libyan and Syrian conflicts may have resulted in the rehabilitation of a theory that had been consigned to the dustbin of history years ago: the clash of civilizations.
