Patrick McIntyre does a great job documenting the history of how the false gospel was intoduced here in America and why it continues to grow. I recommend this book for every Christian. It will help you to share the Full Gospel and how to communicate to those who are still lost, but are blind becuase they were place on the wrong path or have no desire for truth. Read it and go out and share the Gospel.
How did we get here?

This book will answer your question of how did the church become so much like the world? My husband was a professing Christian for 28 years. He wanted nothing more out of his relationship with Jesus than the "get out of hell" free card. He wanted to go to heaven but he certainly didn't care if God was going to be there or not. Then one day, GOD saved him!! We had no idea that his testimony of asking Jesus into his heart was not actually saving grace (in his case). He always doubted his salvation but would be reminded again and again that he made that profession of faith and once saved always saved! The problem was... he was never really saved from saying a prayer and it was evident in his life. (We do believe in truly saved person can never be lost again. John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.) This book explains the history of where this "alter call salvation" started and the results of that mind set today. It is very eye opening, especially if you have lived through it. If you have doubted your salvation, have no real love for Jesus or His people and are just going through the motions, use this grace God is giving you by not leaving you comfortable in your doubt. Read this book and see if this is how you "got saved". This is not something modern America church is going to want to be enlightened with. This will expose truth that will separate sheep from goats. It will challenge your theology, your worship and your prayer life. But it will give you truth that you knew in your spirit and the Truth will set you free!
A History of Salvation Methods
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
The author presents a good history of the way people have been saved since the time of the Protestant Reformation, though I think it could have had more information in this area. The author did provide enough information to accomplish his goal of showing that saying a prayer for salvation was never done until Billy Sunday, and only later by Billy Graham because the crowds were so large. He shows that saying a prayer was actually not done on purpose by previous evangelists because it would give the person a false sense of his/her true condition; that historically, only a changed life was evidence of having been saved. As a result there are many false converts today.

The author has brought into focus a growing concern in the Christian church today. Are we focusing on the wrong method of sharing the Gospel of Christ Jesus. Patrick McIntyre brings to the table a fresh look at an age old problem in the church, who are really saved and who are really lost in the church. In this growing debate this book is a must read.
