Incredible

A must read. I was exhausted for two days at work b/c I simply could not put this book down at night. The story is incredibly imaginitve and the style is addictive. The type of book that makes you promise yourself you'll put it down at the end of the next chapter, and actually get a few hours of sleep tonight, then forces you to break your promise to yourself with a new one, "Okay, just one more chapter."This is beyond King, and has scratched the surface of a new genre. This author definitely thinks "outside of the box", regardless of what the story's characters might tell you...

5 stars plus some

Very excellent book. I read through this in less then two days. It was just that fast paced. I had to force myself to put it down (only when i had to sleep). This book is rightly titled. It is full of the gory details. A must read for anyone who loves genre and even for those who don't.

...and all that jazz!

More than just gory details, Brian DuBois twists and turns a plot in directions that I was afraid to follow, yet was also too scared NOT to! Generally not a fan of this genre, I found that the psychological games being played within the story pushed me past my usual distaste for gore in my hurry to find out what was in store for the characters next. The creativity intricately laced into these gory details aroused my curiosity to a thrilling level. The mind of Brian DuBois must be a very interesting place to live!

Spine Tingling!

I love books that keep me in suspense and with frantic desire to turn the pages. Books that keep the covers pulled up close as I delve into an unspeakable world. Brian DuBois' creative writing invites the reader into an almost forbidden world by using explicit imagery that lends itself to the success of the plot as it unravels. At some points, I had to close the book to absorb the actions and comprehend the pictures that were created in my mind's eye....but immediately opened the book again in order to find out what happens next. It was impossible to stop reading. Move over Stephen King...there's a new "king" of horror and thrills. The Gory Details is "Spine Tingling!!"

Definitely Gave the Details!

I have always gravitated to authors who have a different or unusual way of describing the ordinary. I have found a new favorite!!! DuBois not only made me see in great detail exactly what was going on, but made me smell, feel, and hear even the most subtle elements. I was totally engrossed from the first page! As I read I wanted to know all of the "gory details" because they were so explicitly and expertly told. The storyline is horrifying and quite unusual, but somehow the author makes you believe it is happening right in the next town. The likable characters will gain your sympathy immediately for their distincly human and "everyman" reactions; the unlikable characters will make you cringe with every entry back into the story. I hope the sequel is already started!
