The Memphis Parks Literacy Series

Step into the imaginations of young storytellers from the heart of Memphis, Tennessee. This inspiring 10-book series features original works written by inner-city youth who turned the tables-this time, they are the authors. With the encouragement of Ms. Ericia and the Memphis Parks Literacy Program, these talented kids captured their voices and visions on the page.

From heartfelt reflections on life in the projects to thrilling tales of ghosts who save the day, these stories are full of heart, humor, and hope.

Every night after dinner, Nina and her little brother Chase know what's coming-it's bedtime But in their house, bedtime is anything but boring. With one asking for a story and the other for a song, their mom always delivers a bedtime routine filled with laughter, love, and music. Her warm voice sings their special goodnight tune, reminding them just how cherished they are.

But when Mom isn't feeling her best, Nina and Chase come up with a surprise of their own-a song just for her. What happens next is a moment they'll never forget-a celebration of love, family, and the magical bond between a mother and her children.

Inspired by the timeless rhythm of Mary Wells' classic "Two Lovers," this sweet and soulful story will make every reader smile-and maybe even sing along. A perfect bedtime read for families who believe that love is best shared through laughter, music, and the simple joy of being together.
