This is a fantastic little book filled with great little watercolor paintings of dishes and good recipes (some of which I recognize from my family's cooking), all easy to read, and an insightful history of garlic, shallots, green onions and all the other "alliums". The book is broken down in 2 parts. first being the history and health benefits of garlic. Interesting stuff. The second part is the collection of garlic based recipes. The recipes are generally only 1 page long and are fairly ease to read and to make ;especially if you grew up in a family which uses tons of garlic in their foods. This does not mean the foods lack sophistication and flavor. There are a lot of excellent foods describes from all over Russia, the Mediterranean, China, and all over the world.
