Know thy neighbor

In a few pages, this small and brief book retells Jesus' parable of the good Samaritan found in THE BOOK OF LUKE (10:25-37). Told in rhyming couplets, the story follows the man on his way to Jericho who becomes the victim of robbers. Beaten and left for "half dead," a priest and a Levite both walk by and ignore the man who greatly needs help. Finally, a Samaritan man comes to his rescue despite social and religious conventions and shows his compassion to the man in need. At the end of the book, the moral of upholding the relationship of neighbors is reinforced. This book has lovely illustrations in the form of bright and broad cartoons that children will find very attractive.
