The Good Americans

In a real sense, The Loyalist, the good American who remained faithful to Britian during the American Revolution, was responsible for what was America's first civil war, the War for Independence. Unfortunately, his story has been neglected and most Americans have grown up missing a sizeable part of the political shenanigans and military action associated with the struggle. One of the virtues of this book is that it restores a much needed perspective to the active role of the Tories in the Revolution. The Omaha Sunday World-Herald is on the mark when it says that "Brown has written a good and sound book about these ancestors of ours. They have long been swept under the rug in American histories but it is useful to examine them, their motives and their views in the light of present American turbulence. --- from book's back cover
