The title is derived from success achieved by athletes living in Bibb Graves Center in Auburn, Alabama in the period 1954-1963. These were golden years in that the football team won a national championship in 1957, the track teams won 3 SEC championships, the baseball teams won 2 SEC championships and the basketball team won a SEC championship.
The book accents the difference in usage of the old amphitheater in those golden years and the recent day use of the amphitheater for tailgating at football games in the present day. Thirty athletes who are still living contributed to the book.
