The Golden Ticket Run
Nine cars. Twenty-seven strangers. Ten million dollars-and a country full of things nobody put in the presentation.
Three electric-car billionaires settle a friendly argument with an extraordinary challenge: send nine cars from New York City's Times Square to Hollywood's Chinese Theatre, crewed by ordinary people chosen through a random draw. The winning crew splits ten million dollars. All they have to do is cross America faster than the competition.
Leo Mercer knows logistics. Since losing his job, he's been less certain about everything else. Chloe Brooks knows how to keep a vehicle running, but dreams of a workshop with her name above the door. Arthur Pendleton has spent years teaching other people about the world. Now he's finally traveling through it, carrying the memory of the wife who should have been beside him.
Their silver sedan comes with advanced technology, a courteous onboard assistant, and absolutely no guarantee that three strangers will agree on when to stop for breakfast.
As the miles unfold, charging queues, storms, a power outage, and a stubborn technical fault turn a straightforward route into a test of patience, ingenuity, and trust. Rival crews become friends. Friendly advice becomes a competitive advantage. And the people inside the cars start asking questions the billionaires never thought to put in the rules.
How much time is kindness worth? What happens when the best plan stops working? And what does winning mean when you finally like the people you're racing against?
Warm, witty, and full of open-road possibility, The Golden Ticket Run by Allen Calvert is a road-trip adventure about second chances, unexpected friendship, and learning to enjoy a journey you can't entirely control.
