The Golden Eggs: The Seeds of Time
In the year 9030, King Jonah Nobleman rules what is left of humanity from a palace window: a few thousand souls in camping cubicles, dying of a virus that should have been nothing, if the species hadn't engineered the fight out of itself generations ago. He has given up. Then a citizen with no record and no history requests an audience: an entity that calls itself Mark, and is not entirely a man at all. What Mark offers Jonah isn't a rescue for his own people, that world is already lost. It's a role: leave his dying kingdom behind and travel through time and dimensions inside Mark's head, as his conscience, in an attempt to save a different version of humanity from a similar fate. Carrying Jonah's mind with him from that moment on, Mark begins the work at a Las Vegas technology conference in 1999, where a disillusioned scientist named Sonia Whiterock is about to be caught in a hallway collision Mark has planned with cold precision. She has no idea what's coming. She only knows she can't stop thinking about him. The mission continues through a royal court locked in its own political games under King Algonew, a princess named Nitcha thrown centuries out of her own time, and a present-day girl whose life has been secretly guided by an advanced AI toward a destiny she never dreamed of and might not have chosen for herself. Sweeping between eras and crowns, The Seeds of Time, volume one of The Golden Eggs, plants the first seeds of a saga about what one doomed king will risk to save a humanity that was never his to save.
