The invading empire had gone through rapid expansion all around the grand capital city, on both continents of Europe and Asia. However, the majestic capital city remained a constant source of irritation and frustration, since it was impenetrable.

Although the Byzantine Empire lost almost all of its territories, Constantinople was still theirs, and stood, like a beacon burning brightly, calling would be conquerors. This was especially true for the young Ottoman sultan, who had a deep passion for the coming cause.

The inevitable was that eventually Constantinople would be conquered, that was an absolute and complete certainty, as the overwhelming odds were stacked up high in favour of the Ottomans, at the expense of the Byzantines.
