Neil Duddy and the Spiritual Counterfeits Project delve into Witness Lee and his views on scripture. When Duddy tried to interview Witness Lee to clarify the position of the Local Church on scripture, Lee (to steal a line from Monty Python's Holy Grail) bravely ran away. Lee believes that The Local Church is the only true church and that they have the only correct view on scripture. From Lee's ideas of Pray-reading to his belief that when Adam and Eve sinned in the garden that Satan entered their body (and has entered all humans, even Christ) Duddy opens a window to a very deceptive cult that shrouds itself in Christianity and yet hates Christians. Rather than refute the book, Lee and the Local Church sued Duddy and the SCP for libel. They carried on the suit until the SCP had to file Chapter 11 and stopped printing the book. Although the book was pulled, neither the SCP or Neil Duddy retracted what was written in the book. One scary thing about the church right now is that Lee died in 1997 and no one has stepped up yet to lead the church. I pray that whoever takes over the reins of the church is closer to a Billy Graham than a Jim Jones. *To answer the commentary above, the SPC did take their grievence to Witness Lee and he "bravely ran away" as I said. Rather than do what The Local Church does and did do, read this book along with your Bible and see if it is a New Testament Church or a cult. Also, pick up a copy of one of Witness Lee's books and compare it to scripture, but don't be a bookburner.
