Could an all-powerful God make a world without evil? It seems clear that He could... either by removing volitional beings or annihilating them if they choose evil. The first premise seems more problematic, would an all-good God want to make a world without evil? It appears that He would not. Both this present world, as an illustration of the consequences of evil and the future world with its perpetually ascending smoke, are good... are very good. They are good in themselves and they illustrate the patience, the self-sacrifice and the unfathomable loving goodness of God.Though nearly all Christian apologists would disagree, I'm not sure that we can argue that there is a "second-order" good that God is after. That seems to be a logistic smokescreen. Am I calling evil good... no, never. God's response to evil (or lack of it) is good. We have seen that tolerance of evil and the perpetuation of evil in the Lake of Fire is, by our own standards, good. Both this present world, as an illustration of the consequences of evil and the future world with its perpetually ascending smoke, are good... are very good. They are good in themselves because they illustrate the patience, the self-sacrifice and the unfathomable loving goodness of God.
