I'm sure it's a good book, but it's not captivating.

I'm an avid reader of WWII memoirs and histories, however this book bored me to tears (figuratively speaking). Learning about this history behind "Atomic City" is cool, knowing that women were doing jobs that the public didn't know of until recently is nice, but the book is so drawn out it becomes boring quite early on. There were chapters that just stretched on and on about the backstory of some of the women, which to me was very unnecessary. I'd look ahead at the pages and skip big chunks just to avoid reading about the boring high school lives of girls in the 50's before they began working in Oak Ridge, TN. I did end up giving up on the book about half way through, and it's surprisingly a long book, and just researched all I wanted to know about Oak Ridge.
