This was an incredible read!

I just finished reading this book and found it to be really, really wonderful. The style was simple and straightforward but didn't skimp on the details of living "outside the sidewalks" on Wisconsin.I held my breath while the family was moving the house onto the foundation - and it slipped.I got chills when the author started telling about the ghosts that inhabited the house.I laughed at the misadventures of the children living through these experiences.I fell in love with little Kathryn in her innocence.This would be a good book to read to children who are afraid of mystical things. It's a good book for adults yearning for a simpler time.All in all, this book was thoroughly enjoyable.

Some ghosts are benevolent!

The truth is often more amazing than fiction as this true story shows. It centers around three very benevolent ghosts who assume the duties of watching over the family (and their guests) who live in a house where three people have died in days gone by. It's a family story, related by the father and verified through documentation. Since the narrator is an adult, I'd classify the book as for adults. It's high interest with low reading level so that it could be enjoyed by adults learning English as a second language. Kids ages 9-14 would enjoy the story, but they may not like having it related by an adult. Some parents will find the use of an Ouiga board and the consulting of a medium to be objectionable. Nevertheless the story is told well, the characters ring true, and the reader will come away with new ideas to ponder insofar as ghosts are concerned. Recommended for readers who like ghost stories.
