A young girl who is both autistic and telepathic can not talk with her parents. She lives in a village next to a tall mountain. Inside it are families of dragons, who stay hidden because they are afraid of humans. The dragons eat minerals, crystals, and gemstones as food--and wish to return to the Outside World. The girl and a young girl dragon meet by accident--and become friends. Their fathers (human and dragon) go out to find their daughters--and meet each other too. They agree to work together to create a happy friendship with dragon BBQs heated winter swimming pools, and snow removal--and the dragons can come out and visit in safety.
