Excellent series

I love the characters in this book. The author is very good at developing the setting with vivid descriptions.

One of the most riveting tales of love and tragedy I've read!

This book was fascinating. I loved it from the start! All the characters draw you in with their authenticity and development over the years they are followed. As one of the central characters, of course Kitty Deverill was one of my favorites. Watching Kitty grow up alongside her cousin, maid, and local boy Jack and watching as their lives unfolded with the Troubles and the Great War left nothing to be desired. Santa Montefiore truly has a way with words and makes you not only fall in love with characters, but also makes you hate some too. But don't despair, this isn't your average romance novel with a sappy story and a predictable ending. There are surprises at every page turn. Not only does Montefiore create villains, but she shows you more than just the simple villain but a person with a background, good and bad moments, and who they love. I would highly recommend this read to anyone, and have already got a queue of friends and family waiting to read my copy!
