Creative and beautiful

This is a creative and beautiful retelling of the Biblical story of Noah and the Ark. It is told from the perspective of a fox seeking a new life of freedom. He dreams it will be found with The Giant Leaf. My children (very very familiar with classic Bible stories) each recognized the true story at varying times nearing the end of the book. They were enraptured. I look forward to collecting more of this author’s work. He has a work history with Disney on such films as Beauty and the Beast and Lion King, I believe!

Absolutely MUST HAVE !!!

This is a book that you must have for your collection. As I know it, Davy is going to have a series of 12 stories and this is the first of them all. Get the first one and you will want the rest. Davy is an amazing illustrator and that is the best feature of this book. His attention to the detail and insistence on deliverying the best quality make this book a MUST HAVE. Story is fabulous which is from the Bible and a lot of people know it, he just tells it from the animals' perspective. How wonderful to put great story with amazing illustration together. I bought it last Christmas as a gift to my own daughter and I bought more to give as gifts to my friends. Quality printing and packaging make this a steal at this price. Get one or more before it runs out, you will be back for the second and the rest of the series.

The Giant Leaf a Fabulous Tale

"The Giant Leaf" by Authors Davy Liu and Douglas Wood is definitely a "Must buy book". Inspired from the Bible this tale unfolds like an animated film. Set in the antic times, a menagerie of captivating animal characters encounters many adventures. The hero of this story is a little fox by the name of Kendu. He is under the power of "the Beasts" and has to serve them. A dream of a floating giant leaf keeps haunting his nights. He will devise a plan to free himself despite his terror of the big animal Predator roaming around. Kendu is not alone in this quest. He is about to make several encounters : Odelia the koala Bear and the monkey Yitzhak. Together they go through the Wild Forest. But the most feared "animal Eater" interrupts their progression. This is the premise of the whole adventure. Davy Liu's natural talent for making charming illustrations with a very artistic approach will ravish children and all alike reading this wonderful tale. Liu has been around in the Animation Industry for many years where he lent his talents to the making of several well known major Animation productions for Disney, Warner Bros. or George Lucas etc.... He is also a well renowned painter and his gallery in Laguna Canyon near Laguna Beach is a busy spot for Art lovers. In his collaboration with Douglas Wood ( a Spielberg collaborator ) he achieved a great piece of storytelling in "the Giant Leaf". This book is so amazing.....

Davy Liu is an animator at Walt Disney, and an artist opens studio gallery in Laguna Beach. During high school he was nominated one of the top 20 most gifted kids in the country. Exhibited paintings at Pasadena Museum of California Art, Bowers Museum of Cultural Art, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. He is one of directors for the Disney film "Mulan" This book is so amazing, beautiful drawing with wounderful story about the giant leaf which was Noak ark from the animal point of view. I bring fifteen "Gaint Leaf" books to my friends. From the ages 10 to 65, students, professor, pastor, banker, and doctor all like this book. It will be the best gift to your friends, and special for the children.

Exceptional for Children!! Too well done to pass up.

With the abundance of children's books available, it's difficult to find something fresh and original. But, Davy Liu, Disney illustrator, and Douglas Wood, Steven, Spielberg executive, have done so. The animated story is taken from the Bible, and takes place in early antiquity. It's told from the animal's point-of-view, and is complete with challenges, excitement and adventures. Readers will meet Kendu, a young fox who serves as a slave to the "Beasts" until he has a reoccurring dream about a giant leaf that floats. The dreams repetition fuels Kendu's plan to escape, though he fears the mythical Animal Eater that lives Out There, but his desire for freedom overcomes his fear. Kendu meets Yitzhak the monkey, and Odelia, the Koala bear during his escape. Yitzhak searches for food, but Odelia searches for her lost mate, Gula. She's certain the Animal Eater caught him and she'll never see him again. The little band joins together and travels to the Wild Forest where they meet Animal Eater, and the adventure begins. This will become a favorite read-to-me for children. Colorful, finely-drawn caricatures and illustrations will enchant both adults and children. Even the story segment is printed on parchment like pages to continue the antediluvian theme. Liu's background includes work on classic animated films like The Lion King, Mulan and The Beauty and the Beast. Founder of Kendu Films, Lui has received national and international acclaim for his paintings and illustrations. He's been in the pages of Time magazine and the Wall Street Journal. He's also worked with George Lucas, and Warner Brothers Feature Animations. Liu and Wood combined their natural story-telling ability with superb illustrative talent to produce The Giant Leaf, a book filled with whimsy and allegorical representations similar to the Lion King. Dr. RC Sproul, Founder and Chairman of Ligonier Ministries, also impressed by Liu's work, endorsed his book and is active in the planned movie production.
