The transformation of the Punjab region in India from a thriving agricultural economy to a faltering industrialised economy is addressed in this study. With an analytical approach that seeks to integrate the cultural, geographical, political, and socio-economic strands of Punjab's history, this survey finds that while agricultural statistics have soared, industrial indicators are far below expectations and in fact dismal in comparison to other states.
