I read this book when I was eight years old. I am now forty-five, and this review is from memory, so I apologize in advance in case I've gotten anything wrong. As the story opens, its young protagonist (whose name I can't remember) is exasperated to learn that his two younger cousins (Winkie and Bobbin-he even thinks their names are stupid!) are coming for a visit. The cousins are indeed a dorky pair, and the development of their characters is, as I recall, hilarious. But shortly after their arrival, they tell of seeing, from their bedroom window, a humped, glowing object "greeping" (yes, that's the word they use) across the grounds of Five Owl Farm. As the story develops, the protagonist learns that his cousins aren't quite as dorky as he had thought. Both have more bravery and smarts than he'd ever suspected. This book has a rather "Scooby-Doo-like" ending, but since it was written before that cartoon appeared on the scene, perhaps that is to be forgiven. I do recall that I enjoyed The Ghost of Five Owl Farm immensely.
