Great resource for any children's home library

This book is very clearly written at a student's level and is a wonderful earth science resource. Explaining fossils, sedimentary rocks and glaciation and plate tectonics from a biblical perspective, the Geology Book is a wonderful, accurate and informative resource. The many, many colorful pictures that fill the pages grab students' attention while helping them "visualize" the processes explained in the text and the free online study guide that is made available helps teachers turn this text into a wonderful and indepth study. For students who learn best through literature, this book could easily be paired with A Grand Canyon Adventure

Excellent source of general geology knowledge

This book by John Morris gives wonderful insights into the wide field of modern geology knowledge. If you are a lay person in geology but interested to learn about it - this book is a "must read". This book is even more important to read if you have children who began to study geology at school and thus ask you questions about that. In addition to technical knowledge, this book exposes a reader to the truth that everything around us is created by God of the Bible and evidence about that is everywhere, just as the Bible says in Romans 1:19-20. The book also gives much material to see that evidence (i.e. facts) is neutral and the way a person interprets it is completely driven by a person's worldview. Read this book and you'll see that the Biblical worldview makes way more sense than an evolutionary worldview.

Great book!

This is a great resource for elementary science with full color photographs and interesting text. Fortunately it is not hysterical like the opposition below. The creationists usually stick to reasoned arguments while the others rave and call names. You can disagree and argue, but do so in a gentlemanly manner. The author of this book is a trained and practicing geologist. Lots of creationists are not fundamentalists, and many are scientists who researched their way right out of old earth thinking, independently of Henry Morris and ICR. Right or wrong, they are independent thinkers, of which we need more. If so many people disagree with ICR then why do their books sell more than Hugh Ross'? The church and many scientists disagreed with Galileo and Copernicus, but who was right? They were creationists, by the way, and Isaac Newton was an ardent 'young earth' creationist who did lots of historical research as well as physics. Since when do church leaders get to decide on scientific questions anyway? Let the scientists fight it out like they should. All the arguments evolutionists use to 'debunk' creationists have been debunked right back in the literature. It's not like creationists are afraid to argue since they hold debates and answer critics regularly. Read and make up your own mind!

Geology basics

This book is wonderfully written and helps the reader to assertaine the facts regarding science and the assumptions made regarding the facts. Example: Fact: the earth is made of miles and miles of sediments deposit. Assumption 1:these formed over millions of years of gradual sediment deposit. Assumption 2: these formed rapidly during a worldwide flood. This book helps the reader see that in regard to the evolution/creation conflict, the facts themselves are neutral and are only interpreted based on previously held beliefs. This book also helps readers see that there are many scientists with PHD's in all fields who do not believe in the religion of evolution.

Excellent for homeschool study material

This book is a well-written study on geology. Starting with the different types of rocks and how they are formed, to geological formations, fossils and the like. Go to their website for a fantastic free study guide to accompany the book. This book includes evidence in observed history to back up theories of the young earth, biblical flood and post-flood activities such as stalactites that have formed under monuments built less than 200 years ago, fossilized bone from less than 50 years, and large canyons formed by recent floodwaters. This book is excellent in reporting how various dating methods work and the assumptions used to manipulate the results. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity, water currents...it's all here! In light of the recent devastation of the earthquake in South Asia, it is prudent to rediscover the potency of these things we call "natural disasters." Just one earthquake has caused so much damage; imagine how much more so with multiple earthquakes, floodwaters, and volcanic activity, just to touch the surface of what occurred during the great Flood of Noah.
