Darren Daniels, a teenager living in the stacks loves to study the past, but at a young age Darren realizes that everything isn't what it seems. Darren becomes an outcast even with his family changing his life forever when being offered an opportunity that changes the outcomes of his life. After refusing his offer Darren takes a test being sent all over the three sections finishing first even in the lowest of sections. Darren is sent home left to study the past then coming home to find everything has changed due to his answer. Finding this out Darren begins to wonder if there's something more sinister going on.
