Excellent story with small town flair & humor!

Very funny book!

I recently read this book at Clemson University. I bought it at the Barnes & Noble Store on Campus. I come from a small town and had heard that is was really funny. It was a quick read and I laughed out loud many times over the weekend. This guy really knows how to tell a story. Also, a great message for those who are tired of seeing small towns run-over by big business. Great book

This book should be a movie!

The book is, without a doubt, one of the funiest, most descriptive novels I have ever read. It's a classic! When I read the book, I just knew it had to have been written by a Texan! Every event and incident is so "typical" small town. I hope the book is made into a movie. I recently retired as a home economist, but now work part-time in the funeral business in Del Rio, Texas.
