The Frequency: A Supernatural Horror Novella of Cosmic Dread

By Myth Or Reality Stories

She found a signal older than radio. It was counting down.

Mara Voss digitises the dead. Old recordings, forgotten broadcasts, the voices of rooms that no longer exist. It is precise, solitary work - and she is good at it.

Then she finds something beneath a 1943 BBC Wales reel. A voice in the sub-register, below the noise floor, below everything. Counting. Patient. Unhurried. And when she traces it backward through older and older recordings - acetate discs, wax cylinders, formats with no name - she understands that it has always been there. Long before anyone built the equipment to catch it.

The signal is not a ghost. It is not a message. It is a measurement. And what it is measuring is ending.

As the people around her begin to disappear from every photograph, every record, every memory - quietly unmade by something vast and indifferent - Mara understands what she is. A witness. The last one. And the count is nearly at zero.

Mara is not afraid of it. That is how she knows she was always meant to find it.

Perfect for fans of Thomas Ligotti, Paul Tremblay, and folk horror fiction. A slow-burn supernatural horror novella set in the dark landscape of rural Wales.
