Rules teach us how to play the game. Whether deck or board, rules keep the play fair. Once the rules are broken, we find the game twisted, those playing wanting out.
And when the game is your life, you have no choice but to take up your pieces, charge forward, attempting to end the game with a win in your favor.
Devana has been good about following the rules. Learning her lessons, staying where she is told, avoiding temptation. And then someone cheated, forcing Devana to break the rules herself. Now she is playing a game she doesn't know if she can win. Losing pieces, collecting suites, racing across the board, reading opponents. Coming for those that set out to win a game she had no clue she was playing. When the pupil becomes the master, no player will be safe from the power and skill she wields.
