My name used to be Dominique Bailey. My mother named me Dominique, I love that I know that is the name my mother chose for me. I hate the fact that the other half of my name was given to my ancestors by their slave master. I will no longer have the name of a man who use to kill, lynch, and rape my ancestors. I will never be able to find the name I truly descend from. My family as well as every descendant of enslaved Africans in America will never be able to obtain the true name we descend from. We will never be able to meet most of our family that was lost to us. We will never be able to find the exact locations we truly descend from in Africa. I am you and you are me. As the descendants of the enslaved Africans in America we are the only people in the entire world as a collective with no nation, no home, no identity. The only ones in the world. When the Hebrews were slaves, they still knew they were Hebrew. During the time of the Holocaust the Jews still knew they were Jews. The Africans enslaved from the Transatlantic Slave Trade are the only people to have their entire identity purposely erased. Not to mention reparations were never given. Our position is not entirely our fault, although that doesn't change the fact that we can do something about it. It's time to take our case to the United Nations. Today our people have been free for over 150 years, although it doesn't quite feel like it. Today we are still slaves. Not in the sense of being chained and tortured physically, but mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. In this book I will not only provide my insight, but facts to this reality. Everything you read in this book can be found through simple research.
