This is the first book I have read by Ms. Bittner and I shall get others. It was well written with a storyline that held me captive from the time I was on the ship during the violent storm until the mill was built and the relationships were finalized. It incorporates some interesting history about the early California days as well as the Civil War. I really enjoyed this book.

I loved this book, and it is one of the few that I read over and over again. It is stunning when Santana manages to get over what is done to her by Hugo Bolivar. You just have to smile when you see how strong their love is and how Santana loves Valioso so much. Buy it, you won't regret it!
