The Forest Primeval by Jack Henderson
Living freely as a Native American teen on an isolated Wisconsin reservation, Will Jarrett finds her life suddenly upended in January, 1969. Taken into the foster home of a Chicago-based lawyer, she struggles to accept her new surroundings. Even worse, she is the sole surviving member of her tribe, and her foster father begins to pressure her about taking over control of her land.
Unhappy at home and in school, she finds solace in exploring her athletic talents with her sympathetic coach. Just as she starts to fit in, she is abducted. She escapes and seeks shelter in her original home among the primeval forest of towering trees. Can she be the fierce defender of her ancestral land that she was born to be?
