This work came from many places in me - creative writing, dreams, and stories gathered over decades as a lawyer listening to people at their most vulnerable. But most of all, it came from my daughter, Katerina. She has never spoken, yet she has taught me that silence is not empty. It is full. It arrives before words and stays after they are gone.
