Matsyagandha. Daseyi. Yojanagandha. The queen of Hastinapur--Satyavati.
Abandoned as a baby and preyed upon by a rishi, Satyavati grows up hardened by experience, determined that the next time she is with a man, it will be on her own terms. And she succeeds--claiming the throne of Hastinapur and securing the promise that her sons will inherit the kingdom.
But at what cost?
In a palace where she is scorned and disdained, Satyavati must bury her own pain to survive the brutal game of politics. She learns to be ruthless and unsparing--traits that slowly alienate her from those around her.
Everyone, that is, except the one man she wronged the most--the man she robbed of his birthright.
