The First Sinner

The Gospels tell us of a man called 'Barabbas', or 'Son of the Father', who made a brief but dramatic appearance during Jesus' trial before Pontius Pilate. He was in prison, we are told, for insurrection and murder, along with two other men, and all three were condemned to die on the cross. However, the crowds that had gathered that Friday morning, directed by certain members of the Sanhedrin, called for his release, demanding that Jesus be crucified instead. Who was this 'Barabbas', and why were the crowds so determined to save him? Why would the Sanhedrin wish to keep a murderer alive? There is more to the story than the Bible tells us... This story is a work of fiction and does not pretend, in any way, to be anything else. If it should entertain you, that is fine. If it should move you to learn more about the life and times of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, then the author has done her job.
