The First Profile
A young forensic psychologist. A series of unsettling break-ins. A criminal who doesn't steal valuables - only pieces of family life.
When twenty-four-year-old forensic psychology graduate Riley Davenport begins her placement with the Dallas Police Department, she expects paperwork, observation, and months of proving herself.
Instead, she uncovers a chilling pattern hidden inside a string of seemingly minor residential break-ins across North Dallas.
Nothing valuable is taken.
A framed family portrait.
A grandmother's wedding ring.
A child's crayon drawing.
As Riley digs deeper, she realizes the intruder isn't motivated by money - he's driven by loss. Each home belongs to a happy family with young children. Each stolen item represents a piece of the life he no longer has.
With veteran detective Marco Salinas reluctantly at her side, Riley races to build a behavioral profile before the intruder's obsession escalates from watching families... to confronting them.
Smart, atmospheric, and psychologically gripping, The First Profile launches the Mind of Justice series with a compelling new heroine and a haunting exploration of loneliness, grief, and the dangerous need to belong.
