The First Activation

By Gregory Parrott

Dr. Orion Kael is a reclusive geneticist who prefers the predictable logic of a lab to the messy apathy of modern society. But his isolation is shattered when he discovers the Fifth Genome-a dormant strand of human DNA that activates under the frequency of extreme emotional trauma. Through an accidental experiment, Orion triggers this strand in Juno Varik, a young runaway who suddenly finds herself awash in the collective pain and joy of every soul around her.

What Orion intended as a scientific breakthrough is actually the catalyst for an ancient global power grab. The Aetherian Foundation, a ruthless secret society led by the chillingly precise Elora Finch, has been monitoring human DNA for centuries, waiting for this exact moment to force human evolution toward their own twisted utopia. Now on the run, Orion and Juno must navigate a world that fears their new power while evading a society that views them as nothing more than the first prototypes of a terrifying experiment.
