In the early part of the 20th century, a veritable army of USFS fire lookout tower rangers kept out forests safe from forest fires. In 1937 the USFS published a cookbook to help these brave souls who were stationed deep in the forest to make the most of their supplies and to cook interesting meals even with the most basic of camp kitchens. Being published in the 1930s, some of the recipe descriptions were not particularly complete or clear, and many of the recipes needed more information. I've carefully gone through each one to make sure that it is ready to use the next time you go camping. These recipes are best suited for people who love either car camping or taking a mule team to carry your supplies. If that sounds like fun to you, then you should check out these recipes.
