In fast-food society we long for quick fixes and easy answers. But no worthwhile goal is easily reached, and a deep spiritual life is not created in a week or two. It takes perseverance over the long haul to finish well. "The Finishing Touch" encourages you to keep on keeping on to reach your goals and reap the harvest of a life worth living. Charles Swindoll challenges today's I'm-getting-tired-so-let's-just-quit mentality. He says, "Dieting is a discipline, so we stay fat. Finishing school is a hassle, so we bail out. Cultivating a close relationship is painful, so we back off. Working through conflicts in a marriage is a tiring struggle, so we walk away. Sticking with an occupation is tough, so we change jobs. . . . what we don't hear about is finishing well. About sticking with something until it is done." God wants to touch us and be our strength in the struggle. He wants us to finish what we started and complete the course. "The Finishing Touch "takes you through every day of a year, introducing you to God's touches of grace, joy, and love. As a sculptor applies himself to the marble, and keeps chipping and cutting away to reveal the masterpiece within, so the Master Artist wants to use our trials, hard times, and day-to-day struggles to chip away at our faults and to help us discover the potential treasures within us. Daily devotionals for fifty-two weeks help you discover gut-level authenticity, hope in the midst of despair, courage in the face of fear, the light of faith in the shadows of doubt, and peace in the midst of stress. Learn how God's touch on your life enables you to run the race to the finish'to the honor and glory of the Master who has called you to be more than you think you can be.
I love this devotional book and was looking for a copy to give to a friend...this copy was in great condition and just what I was looking for!
GOod study

We find this book to be a good combination of daily devotion and Bible study. Each day involves reading one page of the book and there is an optional Bible passage to be read. Good thoughts and humor to start the day, a very good book.
Nice devotional material

This is a great book for daily devotional. Provides a page or two of reading then gives Bible reference and closing thought. The book is organized according to the calendar year. So, the first of the book talks about starting out the new year and progresses from there. Classic Swindoll.

"The Finishing Touch" is a powerful devotional. Swindoll is one of the greatest communicators of our time and he reaches the depths of your heart with this daily devotional. He brings passages to life with his illustrations and they really hit home. If you read this with an open heart, a desire to be changed by the Lord's hand and the willingness to apply these devotions, you'll be blessed.
This is a Great Daily Devotional!

I have tried other daily devotionals, but this is the best one I have found so far! I really like how each day has a scripture reference and a story that somehow relates to that scripture reference. I usually read the story first, then read the scripture reference, then think about what God might be trying to show me and how the story and scripture reference fit into my own life (sometimes writing in a journal). The stories and scripture references are often very applicable to life and are good to think about. Sometimes life is so hectic that there doesn't seem to be time to sit down and have a proper "Quiet Time" with God. I am currently on week 9 in this devotional and I find time each day read the devotional and scripture reference and to apply them to my life. It is a great way to start each day. I have found that this devotional keeps really makes me think and dwell into scripture more than some other devotionals I have tried. The devotional for the day might actually get me interested in reading more in my bible then the suggested scripture reference for that day. This devotional has helped me grow closer to God daily in my spiritual walk, and I would recommend this book to anyone of any age if you want a good devotional to help you get closer to God daily!
