A valuble addition to anyones' financial tool kit

"The Financial Crossroads: The Intersection of Money and Life" is an excellent, easy to read guide on financial planning. It is also a great how to book that is full of real examples that help to get you through the maze of decisions that must be made on a regular basis. It clears up many misunderstandings on Life Insurance, Annuities and Taxes. It is also full of real life applications and it takes a lot of the mystery out of the finance world and replaces the mystery with easy to understand examples and ways to manage your assets better. The strong recommendations on establishing a will, power of attorney and advance directives are good examples of the sound advice that is given throughout the book. Excellent reading!

Extremely Valuable Practical Information and Insights

This book is full of extremely valuable practical information and insights about how to deal with every aspect of personal finances. Unlike many other books--and this is one of the things that sets this book apart--it is written in the context of viewing money as an instrument for creating a whole and deeply satisfying life. Also, the book is from a "this is the right thing to do point of view." That is, the reader's best interests--nothing more, nothing less--are at the heart of all the advice in this book. How I wish I could have had all the information and insights in "The Financial Crossroads" 40 years ago! My wife and I value this book so highly that we have decided to include a copy with every graduation gift we give.

Riveting Read

Great read! I initially thought this book would be similar to the many personal finance books on the shelf. I couldn't have been more wrong. The behavioral part of the book is especially interesting...why people tend to do certain things with money and how people have deep feelings about. The examples given about the aforementioned were entertaining and educational. This book is great for anyone that wants to get a grasp on why they do the things they do in regards to their finances and how to build lasting monetary security. - Matt & Jennifer

Definitely Worth The Investment!

I have known Tim Maurer for years, so obviously this review may be a little biased, but this book really is tremendous. As a relatively young professional with a family, I have numerous financial questions of my own. From start to finish The Financial Crossroads has answered any questions I had and more. As I work with Tim and Jim on the promotion of the book I am amazed by how many people in the media and in organizations are taking to the book and the content. it is resonating with the masses, so you should pick up a copy and see what the hype is all about!

A Holistic Approach

Prior to Financial Crossroads I had a distaste or fear of my own financial planning. It was easier to turn it over to and trust the "experts", until I lost half of what I worked damn hard for. Financial Crossroads is for those willing to participate in honest self assesment for the purpose of acquiring wealth. I found that I may complete a chapter, put it down, and come back for the next chapter later without any disconnect. Rather than reading a book, I felt like I was having an extended conversation over time with a financial surgeon and spiritual guide, with Tim & Jim changing roles seamlessly. Something like, "We can remove the blockage in your coronary artery so that it will function stronger and let's figure out how it got this way and what you can do to keep it clean." Financial Crossroads is like working out at a gym with the support and guidance of a physical trainer and nutrionist. To be in the best financial condition I have to excercise and nourish myself with organic fuel, not processed junk that makes my advisor wealthy. Like a physical work out, I found the excercises in self examination and personal accountability sometimes undesirable, annoying and a little painful. And once completed I was so glad I did it. Often while reading I felt like the magicians were showing me how the tricks were done so that I may perform them myself or to not be fooled by the next illusionist. Because of changes inherent in world markets and my personal needs and desires I am sure that I will refer to Financial Crossroads regularly. Finally, I received the book 2 days after ordering.
