The Fear Place

The Fear Place Doug and his brother Gordie and his mom and. Go on annual camping trip ever year. Doug is afraid of the fear place. Gordie keeps pausing him to go back up there. There is a cougar that flows him. Some times wakes up in the middle of night. Thanking about the cougar. There uncle died and there mom dad went to the funeral. The main characters are Doug and Gordie. We both like camping and having run. Doug has a good personality. Gordie has an okay personality. Doug and I like skate boarding. I rally like it because it is like an adventure in the wilderness. My favorite part was when Doug peed on the stamps. Then Gordie licked them. I recommend this book. Because it is funny and scary.

Must read!

As a teacher, I would strongly recommend this book be added to any classroom library or list of books for students to read. The sibling rivalry between Doug and his older brother Gordie will be easily related to among students. There is definite growth in the main character as he is forced to face his strongest fear. Students will be able to discuss and connect with this story in many ways: the way their parents left the brothers in the wild alone, the sibling rivalry between the brothers and/or between their mother and uncle, or how the cougar plays into the story. This novel will keep your students interest.

It's an on-the-edge-of-your-seat Adventure!

It was a very good book. Josh is a boy going camping and when his parents have an emergency, only Josh and his brother are left (alone) camping in the wilderness and that's when the action comes in!

A fear saving story.

It was about a kid named Doug and his family. They go camping in the mountains.His brother found a neat place. Doug did not like the path getting to it. The book was so interesting that I could not put it down. His brother was just like mine,annoying.

This intense tale will rivet you to your chair, just as the young hero is riveted in fear about a certain ledge on the mountain. Extended sibling rivalry between brothers threatens to undermine their very survival, as implacable fate and terse narrative communicate a sense of impending danger. The plot marches inexorably to the moment when Doug must brave a critical site on a circuitous mountain trail, which has long been his personal fear place. Since when is Doug his brother's keeper? Nor is it safe to be exploring treacherous ridges and unknown trails with a cougar roaming about. But it would take too long to notify the park ranger. So Doug's his worst fear place is the threat of the denuded family-- emotional baggage inherited from his mother, who never was reconciled to Her brother.
