Laugh out loud funny! Like a west Texas duster, this story moves quickly and is full of gritty characters and observations. It misses nothing in its not-so-subtle path of hilarious socio-political commentary. Let's hope Trenchard takes these Texans to visit Palin's Alaska in his next frog adventure. Read and enjoy this book and give it to your best friend. It's probably best though not to share it with your mother.
Wacky, Wicked Satire

If Carl Haaisen lived in the West Texas oilfields, this is the type of book he would write. The regulars at Bob's Rig 24 Lounge and the Cowboy Mafia Bradshaw Brothers are all classic characters like those in Haaisen's books and all a little off center. The storyline flows even if it is wacky. The wicked satire is aimed at politicians, the media, religious leaders, the oil industry and just about anyone and everything mentioned in the book. The disaster that nearly destroys Farkel, Texas, the small oilfield community with the same name as a famous movie star frog during his visit seems almost predictable once the cast of characters and their ill-advised plans for the visit are revealed. Not one but two bank robberies plus a kidnapping put this in the crime novel genre but, like the Haaisen books, the plot is just a vehicle to allow the characters to entertain us while the author makes some social commentary every few pages. This will not be favorably compared with the Grapes of Wrath or Moby Dick but an entertaining read if you have two hours on an airplane.
