this book kept me up , to the wee hours of the morning. i read it in 2 days. i couldnt put it down.this book takes place in a town thats filled with evil. and a family that has been though pure hell and back. i enjoy this book i guess because it effected me personally in so many ways. lets start with freda, you could tell that she hadnt been exposed to the finer things in life. with her lack of education, there was a lot that she just couldnt comprehend. but the didnt keep her from stealing her sisters man. she thought because of her fair skin that , she could have any man that she wanted. and ms. mable was just someone that you couldnt hate. she loved everybody that she came into contact with. ms. breaux has done a wondreful job with her first novel. i give this book a definite 5* and then some!!!!!!!

I have to admit, that I began reading The Family Curse with a great deal of trepidation, after all I was reading story all a women who puts a curse on a man. What I found was a very well written story of a family. It was dramatic and intense at points. At points it made me laugh until I cried. But just when I thought it was a nice quiet story, it turns highly erotic and very sexual. And then came the curse. I sat riveted to every word, afraid to continue and at the same time driven to finish this extremely well written story. The Family Curse is a must read.

The Family Curse provides the reader with a snapshot into a culture and lifestyle that most don't acknowledge, let alone understand. Made a brother think. It is excellent escapist entertainment.

Ms. Breaux's first book starts off with a bang. Her creativity has no limits. I finished this book in two days. While standing in my kitchen cooking, New Orleans just over took me. Certainly not a dull moment. Definitely a good read, full of drama and entertainment. Makes you wonder if there are really curses among us!

It was a fascinating blend of folk witchcraft, mysticism, and 1930's southern black culture in a sleepy New Orlean's setting. It was hard to put down, with twists, turns, and highly erotic highlights. It always kept me off balance. I definitely recommend it.
