An adventure into the world of fantasy firmly grounded in one girl's reality. Elise shows responsibility and the fairy demonstrates faithfulness in a new friendship. Beautifully illustrated. My kids love this story and have discussed it several times upon each additional reading. This book has also influenced them to draw and paint more.

Delightful story, gorgeous illustrations

We all have something we do well in part, but wish we did better. And so it is with Elise, the young heroine in The Fairy Painting, a children's book by Detroit area television personality Stacey DuFord. The young painter has created a summer scene straight from her backyard. Except something isn't quite right. Elise goes indoors for lunch, and when she returns to her easel, finds something magical has transformed the painting - something that will soon present her with an interesting challenge. The Fairy Painting blends the real world with the boundless universe of a child's imagination in a charming tale of persistence, friendship and the greatest gift of all: belief in yourself. DuFord's well crafted story is delightfully illustrated by Michigan artist Wendy Popko, whose work hangs in the homes of well known families throughout Michigan, and has been featured at Junior Leagues in Detroit and Birmingham. We really liked it!

I bought this book for my daughter and we both really liked it. I was very impressed with both the story and the illustrations. The story is very cute, but not sappy or contrived. Even my husband commented on how much he liked the story. I so liked it that I bought seven additional copies for friends and relatives. I could see girls liking the story more than boys, but I highly recommend it.

Fantastic book!

The Fairy Painting is a wonderful story about friendship and loyalty. The author does an excellent job of exploring the magical world of fairies (with a modern twist) while teaching young children to believe in themselves. I highly recommend this book!
