'The Fading Conscience' - is a fictional novel with a set idea from the Western part of Nigeria. Aro was a nine years old boy living in a remote tiny picturesque village. Like a dog glued to his owner, he would grabbed to his father in market-outings and Village occasions. His friend exceptionally liked him, and the older people accorded him the same admiration given to his father, without doubt everybody knew that he was destined to become the Village head in future.Suddenly, one vindictive afternoon his dream was smashed and shattered as a cracking wine glass that fell off a tabletop, through an uprising of a mob seeking revenge against his father whom they had murdered, unsatisfied like a pack of hungry Lions after their preys, they were bent on destroying anybody and anything in their paths. Either fled or fried a decision was forced upon him to escape, before his enemiescould carry out their dastardly act. Creeping out of the burning house to sprint into the wood, he was spotted and he was chased after with bows, arrows, clubs and machete In a passing moment, the pursuit had become the survival of the fittest, would the mob caught up and out-ran him, or would he give up and waited to be butchered? The answers were in his will and spirit. As he increased in speed, the pursuing mob doggedly gathered strength in their tracking. It became a game of the hunter after the prey.
