The Eyes of Night
Seven hundred miles from Cincinnati, a ruined house broods over the Adirondack snow - the abandoned retreat of a vanished occultist, and the latest stop on a search ordered by one of the most dangerous men alive. His reluctant servant, a seminary dropout turned errand boy, finds only an old letter hidden beneath a bed. But the letter carries a name, and the name leads to a young man who once walked away from the priesthood - and from a gift he never asked for.
In the city, a frightened young woman slips past her father's watchers long enough to confess to a nun: her father is dying, and he intends to live forever inside her unborn child. Days later, the nun is found nailed to a warehouse wall, her eyelids cut away, ringed by black candles and stars drawn in blood.
As an old evil gathers its strength, those caught in its orbit must decide what they are willing to believe - and what they are willing to become. When the night opens its eyes, no prayer may be enough.
