The Exile: Portrait of an American Mother is Pearl S. Buck'sintensely moving memoir of her mother, Caroline (Carrie) Stulting Sydenstricker, whoset off to China as the bride of a zealous Presbyterian... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Hard to believe there are no reviews for this account of Pearl Buck's mother. Well written, sobering tale of an extraordinary American woman, missionary to China, and the children she raised and lost. Her sacrifices of personal comfort were, often, astounding.
The one drawback to the book is that Buck's theological views are not Biblical.
