He also finds out he has no compulsion about eliminating from this planet those that care only about themselves. David is a very opinionated man who goes through life following the belief first espoused by Shakespeare's Plonius: This above all: to thine own self be true. You may not believe as David does, but you owe it to yourself to find out why he became a vigilante. This is the first of a series. It starts when David is fourteen and deals with a psychopath who tortures animals, and goes on to when he confronts a group of outlaw bikers known as The Evil Ones.
