The Enduring Friendships of Six Marine Corps Wives (and their husbands!) by Norma Kipp Avendano. I had no idea of the wonderful path my life would take when I married Captain Harry E. Kipp USMC on October 2, 1945. How could anyone know who didn't have knowledge of the United States Marine Corps? Not only was I the happiest bride in all the world, but I became a member of a huge family with thousands of members whose lives become intertwined forever. Semper Fi is its motto and that is true...always faithful! This book is about five women whom I met in the mid-1940s and '50s whose friendships remain until this day for three of us; sadly, three have left in body but never in spirit and memory. These Marine Corps wives are Terry from Abilene, Texas; BG from Chillicothe, Ohio; Dolly from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Jerry from Lackawanna, NY; Ruth from Minneapolis, Minnesota; and I, Norma from La Fayette, Georgia. Although I write about these women separately, in the order in which I met them, I knew them at the same time over a span of years from 1946 to the present 2011. There will be overlapping and intermingling of dates and locations, for that is the way we lived and endured in the Marine Corps with our husbands! I begin my story by getting married to my Marine!
