An interesting selection.

I have only recently become aware of the work of Mark Carwardine - and I have to say I have been much impressed. This is another excellent book in which he describes World Wildlife as "a survey of animals and their habitats." It is exactly that. After a brief foreword by Sir David Attenborough and a very informative introduction by the author - in which he includes a short but very useful section on "How to use this book," we find chapters headed as follows; Tropical rain forests, Temperate woodlands, Coniferous forests, Deserts, Tundra & moorland, Grasslands, The poles, Mountains, Swamps & marshes, Lakes & rivers, Islands, Coastlands, Oceans and finally Towns & suburbs. Under each of these headings the author fulfils his promise of describing the subject habitat and the animals, plants and fishes found therein. This is a book from which many people can learn a great deal about the world in which they live. With a percentage of the proceeds from sales going to the World Wildlife Fund, they are also contributing something towards it's protection. NM
