We really liked this book.

I don't know what it is, maybe the pictures, maybe the unusual storyline, but we have really enjoyed this one. I was looking for princess/castle/fairy tale type books that are not Disney and aren't your typical princess in need of rescuing. This one is definitely unusual, but we were sort of captivated by it. Great illustrations and interesting,if offbeat, story. I'd buy it again.
